AF447 Cockpit-Voice Recorder Recovered

The BEA investigators have recovered the Cockpit-Voice Recorder of the Air France flight 447 which crashed in the Atlantic ocean on 1st June 2009.

The Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) has been localized at 21h50 UTC on Monday 2 May, 2011 while it has been raised and lifted on board the ship Ile de Sein by the Remora 6000 ROV at 02h40 UTC this morning, on Tuesday 3rd May, 2011.

 

With both the CVR and the FDR – the most important parts for the investigation – now recovered, the most critical part of the oceanic search is now complete. The units are expected to be delivered to the BEA investigators in France in about 10 days, accompanied by officers from all the relevant authorities.
