Gaddafi Ordered Lockerbie Bombing – Libyan Minister

Libyan Justice Minister Mustafa Mohamed Abud Al Jeleil told the Swedish newspaper Expressen a short while ago that Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi was the person who ordered the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, which killed 270 people.

The bomb on Pan Am Flight 103, a Boeing 747-100 (N739PA) named Clipper Maid of the Seas, was destroyed by a bomb over the city of Lockerbie in Scotland on 21st December 1988. The incident was one of the most disastrous aircraft bombings ever and stirred a considerable controversy in international media. The flight was on the way from London Heathrow to New York JFK.

Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was convicted of being behind the bombing but was released under compassionate grounds creating yet another international controversy.

“I have evidence that Gaddafi ordered the Lockerbie bombing,” “To hide this, he did everything in his power to get Megrahi back from Scotland.”

Al-Jleil was cited as saying by Expressen.
