Japanese LCC SkyMark to Order A380s
Japanese low cost carrier, Skymark Airlines ( IATA: BC ) just announced that they have signed an agreement with Airbus for six Airbus A380 aircraft.
The deal includes two options. Delivery details or engine choice were not immediately available. Skymark hopes to firm the order in next Spring and to use these aircraft to enter international markets from 2014 onwards.
Founded in 1996, and based in Tokyo Haneda, Skymark serves 10 Japanese domestic destinations with a fleet of Boeing 737-800s. Skymark is the first Japanese airline, as well as the world’s first LCC, to order the A380.
The airline also used to operate Boeing 767-300s in the past.
