Mexicana A319 seized at Calgary, airline in deep financial troubles

A Mexicana ( IATA : MX ) operated Airbus A319 was seized at Calgary this morning ( 29th evening local ). The aircraft, XA-MXG, MSN 1630, was an original Air Canada aircraft and had apparently been subleased to MX.
Reportedly two other MX aircraft have also been seized at Montreal and Toronto, both of which had been leased from Air Canada – however this news is still unconfirmed.
It is reported that Mexicana is currently going through deep financial trouble and the airline is seeking to declare bankruptcy and to restructure.
Mexico’s equivalent of US Chapter 11 Protection is known as Ley de Concurso Mercantil.
It has been reported that ILFC is seeking to have its 12 leased aircraft to MX back.
Mexicana has only recently joined oneWorld alliance and had only yesterday announced an interline agreement with German carrier Condor. However, it is believed that the inevitable liquidation of the airline had already been well foreseen.
