Qantas A380 Engine Issue over Indonesia
SINGAPORE, AirlineIndustryReview.com
A Qantas Airbus A380-842, registration VH-OQA, operating as QF32 from London, LHR to Sydney, SYD via Singapore, SIN, with 433 pax + 26 crew onboard, had an unidentified engine issue over Indonesia and returned to Singapore for a safe landing.
The aircraft left Singapore at 0956h local for Sydney, and landed back safely at 1146h. The aircraft subsequently was parked at gate C23.
No injuries were reported, and everybody on board is safe. The issue was presumed to be on #2 engine – which still makes the aircraft perfectly flyable ( as is the case with any aircraft on a single engine issue ).
It was reported that some debris from the engine had fallen over Indonesia.
VH-OQA MSN014 was built in 2008 and is the first A380 delivered to Qantas. The aircraft is named Nancy Bird Walton and is powered by Trent 900 engines. The aircraft had its first C Check at Frankfurt, FRA from 14SEP onwards by Lufthansa Technik.
Some sources state that the issue was with the engine cowling.
UPDATE: Qantas has now suspended all of its A380 operations until further notice.

The following engine is of a jet engine explosion following a duck inserting to the engine. Please NOTE that this might NOT have any connection to the Qantas incident – the cause of which is still undetermined.
