SriLankan Launches Shanghai flights

SriLankan Airlines has loaded its Shanghai schedule to its system.
The flight will launch on 3JUL10 and operate four times weekly, via Bangkok.

UL886 CMB 0135 – 0635 BKK 0735 – 1245 PVG 1246 332
UL887 PVG 1620 – 1845 BKK 1950 – 2145 CMB 1246 332

This will increase SriLankan’s total weekly Bangkok frequencies to 10.
The airline also appears to be having five A330s in operation, instead of the current four in fleet.

A332s are going to run the Shanghai (PVG) flights.

Any idea why the china flight numbers are starting with 8## while the Japan and Hong Kong flight numbers are starting with 4## .??. they are in orient though.

The Chinese consider 8 as a lucky number. You can see many other airlines doing the same.

Interesting. Yes, UA does. but not BA, EK, QF… It will be better for UL to have unique flight nr for China (8##) and India (1##), because they could spread more services over there. UL must need to consider on India flight nrs if they start increasing more flights and destination.

One more thing KFlyer. UL’s PVG flight appears to be starting on 1st July.

You are doing a great job. Thank you.

  3. hmmmm….. “The Chinese consider 8 as a lucky number so they use it as a starting number in their flight numbers…” thanks for this info and also for the blogs and other comments.
