Stop whining !

Stop whining !

Stop whining. Whining is not going to help you – be it in life, or business -whether you’re an individual or an airline. True, we know it could be unfair ( at least from our view) and that something is wrong. We expect the world to be merciful on us, but it has been a longtime since most humans have passed the era where they were merciful. Either the majority today is outright rude or they simply are not intelligent enough to understand – we think.

Whatever it is, whining is only going to make you look like a loser.
No customer is going to fly with you because someone else has stolen your market share. No customer wants to fly with you to help increase your falling revenues. It is not going to stop your competitor from increasing their market share either.  Whining is not going to help you face the challenge.
When there is a challenge, change and act. Winners did that.

Notes:

Challenge – Nokia’s Symbian OS, with the advent of newer OSes like iOS and Android, was heavily bashed in the media. Deep beneath at the kernel level, Symbian is a highly efficient OS that none can match; its only downside was the outdated UI. But Nokia could not understand the real challenge in-time.

Emirates has been continuously profitable since its launch, with only one annual loss so far. The airline is well known for its stringent focus on keeping its costs low and its reputed management that has successfully adapted to challenges.

Ryanair was just another loss making European carrier till 1991, when Michael O’Leary realised that more drastic challenges are needed for success.

Qatar Airways and Etihad ( despite how much was invested into them)  are now profitable giants that can challenge Emirates. Had the Qatari and UAE governments resorted to whining about how Emirates is stealing their market share, and remained unchanged and inactive, this would never have been possible.
