Virgin America orders 60 A320s, Airbus hits 10,000

Virgin America today announced that the carrier has placed orders with Airbus for 60 A320 aircraft ( 30 A320neo and 30 A320 standard ). This makes the American LCC the first airline to make a firm commitment to the A320neo ( IndiGo, which signed up for 180, is yet to officially firm the order ).
The order also includes the 10,000th aircraft order Airbus has received. The company only had around 5,000 orders in 2004. The order was originally booked by Airbus on 29th December as belonging to an undisclosed customer.
